As a tropical country, Vietnam is suitable for lot of fruit. Many people visit to Vietnam trying tasting as much as possible the fruit here. Mango is also a iconic fruit of Vietnam. Most of Vietnamese mango kind located in the south or middle of the country such as Khanh Hoa, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, Dong Thap province.
Cam Lam District is a hub of Khanh Hoa province's mangoes. Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province has nearly 8,000 hectares of mango trees. 60% of them are Australian mango trees – R2E2 type. In 2004, Nearly 100,000 breeding mango branches transported by plane from Australia to Vietnam had been grafted onto the local mango variety. Owing to the good care in accordance with the technological process, Vietnam - Australia mango trees grew quickly. There were mango trees that blossomed after only two years of planting. Besides, Cam Lam has many other kind of mangoes such as local Tay mango – a Indian mango kind (Tay means Western in English which related to the French who sent it to Khanh Hoa); Hoa Loc mango which is very famous kind from Tien Giang province…
Khanh Hoa province is one of Viet Nam coaster city. It is well known about beautiful sun and sand city named Nha Trang. In 2021, Cam Lam district contributed 44.000 tons of mangoes which a half is R2E2 mango. Almost of them are delivery to the north border to China market. A portion goes to the north market.
Cam Lam District located to the south of Nha Trang city, which is suitable for growing mangoes, and in reality, the district has been a land of mangoes in Khanh Hoa Province. Improvement in planting has enabled farmers to grow many kinds of good-quality mangoes like Hoa Loc mango, Australian mango, etc. The mangoes of Cam Lam have been exported to many countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, etc. Products from mangoes like mango cake, mango jam, etc. are also favorite.
The National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam has certificated brand name Xoai Cam Lam (Cam Lam mango) for three kinds of mangoes in Cam Lam District, including Hoa Loc mangoes, Australian mangoes and Canh Nong mangoes.
Mango season in Cam Lam District lasts from March to July. Another sub-season last from December to February in preparation for Tet Holiday. During the year, there are also mangoes available but with limit amount.
